Campbelltown Notes.
«• I From Our Own Correspondent J Mr B. Crabb, the Grand Lodge Lecturer, has paid his long-looked-for visit to Campbelltown. On Thursday evening ) he gave his first lecture in the Tempei ranee Hall, but, as he came very unexpectedly, the attendance was not > large. On Saturday evening he gave : another lecture, but the inclemency of the weather prevented a large attendance. He gave an interesting address, on Sunday afternoon, on "Nuts to Crack," or " Total Abstinence," proved in the Scriptures. The Hall was full on this occasion, and a very profitable ■ meeting was held. His addresses ; throughout were very humorous and ' caused fits of laughter, as well as using [ some good sound argument against the destructive influences of strong drink. 1 Yesterday the anniversary services 1 were held in the Wesleyan Church. ' Mr G. Harper took the morning service, 1 which was well attended, and the Key. ' Mr Dawson the evening service, who " preached to a large assembly. ! The Primitive Methodists closed their : Church in the evening, and the Wesleyan ' Church was packed, many being unable to obain admission. The Church was ' nicely decorated with ferns, flowers, etc. by members of the choir, and it looked very pretty. 1 On Wednesday next a tea meeting will be held in the Church, to be foH lowed by a public meeting, at which many prominent speakers will take part. Three new shops are about to be erected on one of the most prominent sites in the township by a Feilding resident. The timber is now on the 1 ground, and when the buildings are finished they will be a great improve--1 ment to this rising town. 1 Another runaway from the factory occurred this morning. The horse attached to a milk -cart belonging to Mr Beckman became very restive, and eventually 1 bolted. Mr Beckman was on the ground [ holding the reins, and they became entangled round bis feet. He was drag* 1 ged along the road for about eight chains before he was set free. The exact amoant of injury sustained by Mr Beckman has not ret been ascertained. The milk-cans were thrown out of the cart and scattered over the road.
