The Stock Market.
Messrs Nolan, Tonka and Co. report ; — At Eltham, on 12th mat., considerably more stock than advertised came forward. Bidding was slack, yet most lines were cleared afterwards. At Hawera, on 14th inst , the yards were well filled with cattle. There was a good attendance of the public, but very little competition) consequently a few pens went home un« sold. At Eltham— Calves, 10s to 15s ; weaners, 18s to 32s 6d ; yearlings, 33s 6d to 35s ; 2-yr steerß, 4)2 7s 6d to £% 15s ; 2-yr quiet heifers, £2 5s to £2 10s ; 3-yr spring ealvers, £3 10s to £3 17s 6d ; store cows, £2 17s to £3; forward-condition cows, £'6 3s to £3 7s 6d ; fat cows, M \ cows and calves, £3 ss. At Hawera— Yearlings, mixed sexes, 30s to 85s : 2-yr steers, £2 8s to £2 15s ; 2i to 3-yr steers £3 5s to £3 12s 6d ; 3-yr bullocks, £4, to £<k 7s 6d ; weaners, 16s to 21s ; store cows, £2 16s to £3 ; forward condition,, cows, £3 7s 6d to £3 16s ; fafc cows, £4 jj£ springing heifers, £4 10s to L 5 10s ; back* ward springers, L 3 15s to L 4 10s ; cows and calves, L 3 13s. Matthew Henry reports of his Palmers* ton sale :— A very fair entry of sheep and cattle came forward to -day. Business waß again dull, and little doing at auction, A limited turnover was. done privately after the sale af quotations. Cattle— Fat bullocks L 6 ; fat cows, L 4 15,8 ; stjore pows, L 2 lls ; cows and calves, 14) ; springing heifers v L4 4s 6d ; dairy cows, L46s j yearlings, 365. Sheep —Shorn lambs, 3s Id ; others medium quality, 2s 6d ; store ewes, 3* to 4s. Weaner pigs, 6s to Bs. Messrs Abraham and Williams report : — In all respects horses were much .of the usual stamp that have been offering of late. Very little business was done, the sale being one of the lowest we have yet experienced. Inferior hacks, L 3 to L 4 5s ; better sorts, L 9.
