Apiti Notes.

■♦ [from our own correspondent, j A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a cricket club for Apiti was held in the Apiti Hotel on Saturday last. A large number assembled and Mr Snow was in the chair. Mr Eagar was appointed Hon. Secretary. It was decided to form a cricket club at once, witb a membership of about forty. A challenge was forwarded to the Birmingham Cricket Club for a match to take place on Saturday, 22rd March, commencing at 11 o'clock on the Birmingham Cricket Ground. We hope that this is the forerunner in the Apiti district towards a greater interest being taken in athletics. Until lately our distriot was the most backward in this direction, but now, having taken a turn in the right direction, we hope that it will make rapid strides towards that end.
