Feilding S.M. Court.

o I Fhiday, March 15th, 1895. (Before Mr Stanford, 5.M.,) Wm. Pearson v. Mrs E. A. Halley ; claim £2 2s. Mr Sandilands, for plaintiff, said £1 had been paid on account. Judgment for £1 2s with costs ss. Sing Hop v. Mrs E Dickson ; claim £1 9s. Mr Sandilands for plaintiff. Judgement for 19s ? as 10s had been paid, with lis costs. Bridget Millard applied for an order oi the court requiring her husband, Albert Millard, to support three of her children. Mr Prior appeared for complainant, who deposed she had nine children, the oldest being 14 years aud the youngest 8 months. I'he two oldest supported themselves, three were at a Catholic school at Jerusalem (up the Wanganui river) ior whose support she paid £14 a year each , the four other children were boarded out at £12 a year each ; she asked that her husband should pay 5s a week each for three children. Hi's Worship made an order that Alfred Millard should pay 15s a week towards the support of three of his children. Cook and Parker v. J. W. and W F. Bramwell ; claim £2 ss. In this case an application had been made that the evidence ot defendants should be taken in Feilding, the summons having; beeu issued in Wellington. Mr Sandilands appeared for defend- ! ants. J. W. Bramwell deposed : Was a member of the firm of Bramwell Bros., and one of the defendants in I this case ; on May 3rd purchased the i goods mentioned in statement of claim from Jas. Scott and Co, of Blenheim • the invoice was £2 6s 5d ; the firm of Jas. _cott and Co., he ' believed, was assigned to Cook and Parker some time in June ; at tbe end of June received an account from the trustees ; sent a cheque, on July 24th, in satisfaction oi the claim ; 1 (the cheque was produced and was apparently endorsed bj Cook and Parker) ; received a receipt (produced) from Messrs Cook and Grey (of Wellington) for the amount on i behalf of the estate ; believed Cook, 1 of Cook and Grey was the same person as Cook of Cook and Parker ; produced his bank book which showed \ that the cheque to Cook and Parker had been debited to his account ; on " September sth received a letter from Cook and Parker desiring 1 payment of £2 Os 4d j replied stating he held a receipt for the amount ; was not indebted to Scott and Co.'s estate for any amount ; only had one transaction with that firm ; after the letter on September 7th did not receive any other communication till sued. Mr Sandilands asked that his client should be allowed his expenses, and His Worship agreed to allow him 12s 6d expenses, 21s solicitor's fee and 7s costs of court in the event of'judgment being given in his favor.
