Farewell Meeting at Campbelltown.
I From Our Own Correspondent] A very enjoyable time was spent at Campbelltown yesterday by the members of the Primitive Methodist Church. It being the quarter day for the circuit the quarterly meeting was held in the afternoon, when the reports for the past term were read and found to be very encouraging. In the evening a tea was held, the tables being given by the members of the church. A large number was present and full justice was done to the good things provided. The after meeting was presided over by Mr J. Broadbelt. During the evening a number of selections were giveu by the choir, and solos were sung by Mrs Clement and Miss E. Mitchell, Miss A. Jarvis presiding at the organ. Addresses were given by Messrs Linton, Arnold, Gould, Merrett, Hunt, and Gray. Previous to Mr Clement addressing the meeting a presentation was made to him by Mr J. Glover, on behalf of the Caraphelltown Young People's Christian Endeavour Society, of a beautifully bound Bible, with authorised and revised versions. Mr Glover spoke very highly of Mr Clement's work among the young people, and as the present was given by them it showed their appreciation of his labors. Mr Clement was much affected, and in thanking them said he had always enjoyed himself very much with the young people of Campbelltown, and would greatly value the gift. He then gave a pathetic farewell address and said the past two years had been very encouraging, as mucli good work had been done. He remarked that the difficulties of the circuit were always felt by the minister and not treated with indifference ; he urged the members of the church to be faithful to their new minister and to assist him in every possible manner. Mr J. C Thompson proposed a hearty vote of thaoks to all who had taken part in the meeting, seconded by Mr Smith. Messrs JoJly and Bennett supported the motion, which was carried unanimously. During the evening Mr Gould gave a financial report which showed that the new quarter would begin with a clean sheet. The singing of the Doxology terminated the meeting.
