Feilding Bowling Club.
A meeting of gentlemen interested in the promotion of a Bowling Club in Feilding was held at Messrs Halcombe and Son's office last evening, to receive the report of the Committee appointed to select a section of land suitable for a bowling green. Present — Messrs W. A. L Bailey (in the chair), H. Axup, J. McLarin, W. Light, E. Mills, B. Gosling, H. W. Davy, J. H. Stevens. Mr Bailey, on bet ah 0 of the subCommittee, reported that a suitable site containing one acre, opposite the racecourse, was under offer for £25 from the Colonists' Land and Loan Corporation. Messrs P. Thomson and J. McLaren were appointed a Committee to canvass for members and report at a meeting to be held on Thursday next. Resolved, That the annual subscription be one guinea, and that no entrance fee be charged to the first fifty members. Twenty gentlemen have already signified their intention of joining the Club, and as soon as the membership is fifty it is proposed to purchase the section offered and raise by debentures sufficient money to make a green which, it is estimated, will cost from £200 to £250. _____
