Wellington Markets.

Messrs A. G. Tame and Co., report on the markets for the week ending February 22nd : — Sheep. — Fat sheep: Home prices being so unfavourable, values are oom* ing down, 8s to 9s being top prices ; fat lambs, 7s to 8s ; fat ewes. 5s to 6s 6d ; store wethers, 5s to 6s ; store ewes, 4to 6-tooth, 7s for good lines, 5s for medium, and ls 6d to 3s for f.m. The present panic in sheep (for it is nothing less) is not warranted. Cattle.— Fat cattle, 17s lOOlbs ; store cattle, easier, as they generally are at tbis time of the year ; weaners, 20s to 255 ; yearlings, 30s to 40s ; 2-year-olds, £2 10s to £3 ; 3-year steers, £4 to £4 10s. Pigs.— Slips, 10s to lis ; porkers, 20s to 255 ; bacon pigs, 35s to 455. Horses. — We held our usual horse sale on Saturday. There was a moderate entry, and a fair attendance. The horses consisted mostly of light harness horses and hacks, including a few exexpress horses. Bidding was not brisk except for express sorts. We sold a medium five-year-old draught for £12 10s, a well-bred hack by Ascot, another by Foulshot, and a young express horse were withdrawn; a well-bred hack mare brought LlO, and harness horses, aged, from L 4 15s to L 7 10s ; weedy and aged sorts, L 2 10s to L 8 15s. We have advice of 15 horses and hacks, all well bred, from Taranaki, which will be offered on Saturday, March 9th. Wool.— We have placed some late clips, privately, 5d per lb ; stained wool, ssd to 7d ; for light wool, pieces up to 3Ad. Sheepskins — All coming forward sel. Ung freely at late quotations.
