Women's Christian Temperance Union.

(Communicated.) The adjourned meeting of the Feilding Branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Temperance Hall on the 19th instant, Miss Dalrymple presiding. A quantity of correspondence, chiefly from the Heads of Departments, requesting information as to work done during the year, was read. The secretary, Miss Giesen, having resigned, the President i was instructed to send replies. Regret . was expressed that from uncontrollable \ circumstances, with a few exceptions — notably the Band of Hope ana Prohibitionist distribution — very favorable statements could not be forwarded. Mrs J. C. Thompson, Superintendent of . the Band Of Hope, had already forwarded ! her report to Headquarters. The work i done has been good, and a large distribution of leaflets has been carried on. It was resolved that the Hall should be rented for another year. Mr S. Andrew waited on the Union to make enquiries re its intentions as to the Temperance Demonstration on Easter Monday. He , was assured that the Union was most anxious to have the fete carried out as , on previous occasions, and he was empowered to communicate with the other i temperance bodies of the district as to r what part they would take in it. It t was considered that now the under- . taking could be reckoned on as estab* lished, tenders be called for the catering | and supply of suitable drinks. Easter Monday falls on April 15th. The Levin Branch had kindly agreed their delegate, Mrs Ostler, should represent this Union at the forthcoming Convention in Wellington. Miss Dalrymple was re-elected President and Treasurer, \pro tern ; Mrs Lethbridge, vice-President ; Mrs J. C. Thompson, Superintendent of the Band of Hope and Secretary. It was decided that a Band of Hope concert be held in the Hall on Wednesday evening next, to which parents and others aye cordially invited.
