Judgment for defendant on both counts with costs was given by Mr Justice Richmond to.day in tbe case of Braund v Union Bank of Australia, two claims of £10u0 each for alleged wrongful dismissal and alleged breach of contract. Mr J. M Goldfinch, accountant to the Police Department died to-day. He was \ a prominent member of tfae Masonic ] fraternity. ; Wanganui, February 21. The Corporation Baths were publicly opened to-day in the presence of a large assemblage The Mayor, Mr F. R.Jackson, after declaring the baths opened took a header into the water amidst loud applause and the sports programme was then gone through. Auckland, February 21. Mr Crowther, M.H.R. addressed the electors to-night. He said he supported the Government as he did not see another set of men to take their places. He received a vote of confidence. Christchurch, February 21. At the Supreme Court to-day Hugh Murray, a youth charged with wounding a horse, was admitted to probation for six months ; W. Fowler, stealing 19 sheep six months ; Chas. Langdon, charged with shooting at a constable was acquitted ; J. Stanton, assault, three months.
