THE SMOKE CONCERT.

A smoke concert was held at the Manchester Hotel in the evening, -when about fifty persons were present, Mr W. A. Sandilands, president of the Feilding Club, presiding. The following toasts were proposed and responded to : — " The Queen," proposed by the chairman, who also proposed "Cycling," Messrs Barker, Hunt, and Ricketts responding ; Mr Andrews proposed •? The Mauawatu Cycling Club," Messrs T .<H. Richards and Pickering responding) Mr Fisher proposed "Kindred Spirts," Messrs W. Halcombe (tennis)^ Cooper (polo), Moore (cricket), and Matheson (football) responding ; Mr W. A, L. Bailey proposed " The Successful Competitors," coupled with the names of Messrs Way, Barker, and Mingins ; Mr Sandilands proposed '• The Feilding Athletic Sports," Messrs H. L. SherwilF,'W; A.L. Bailey, and A. R. Allan responding.; Mr Ricketts proposed " The President, Mr Sandilands," ; the Chairman proposed "The Feilding Band," Messrs Daw, R. F. Haybittle, and Bilderbeck responding ; Mr Bailey proposed "The Ladies," Mr Treseder responding; Mr Sandilands proposed " Our Host," " The Pianist " (Mr Moore), and "The Committee" (Mr Davy responding) ; Mr Shervrill proposed " The Unsuccessful Cbmpetitors," coupled with the names of Messrs Treseder and Parr ; " The Press," proposed by Mr Bailey : " Our Secretary," proposed by Mr Andrew ; " The Handicappers," proposed by Mr Treseder and responded to by Mr Ricketts, who proposed " The Vice-President and Visitors," coupled with the names of Messrs Mills and J. F. Stevens. Songs were given during the evening by Messrs J. F. Stevens, T. H. James, E. H. Ricketts, F. W. Treseder, A. C. Matheson, H. Bastings, R. F. Haybittle, Barker, C. Pickering, and T. H. Richards. Mr S. Moore acted as pianist. The trophies were presented to the successful competitors and a pleasant evening was brought to a close.
