Supposed Child Murder.

fPer Press Association.] Invercargill, February 20. An inquest was opened to-day on the body of a female infant found on the beach of the eetuary on Sunday. Medical evidence was to the effect that the child lived 24 hours, was fully developed, and was dead when put in tbe water. There was a mark round the neck as if some soft material had been tightly bound round it, and death Was caused by suffocation. The inquest was adjourned for a wetk. „
