The Stock Market.

♦ Messrs Abraham and Williams report as follows : — During the week ended yesterday we held sales at Shannon, Pohangina, and Palmerston. The firstnamed place saw a fairly-numerous entry of sheep and a short one of cattle. The sheep looked sound and healthy, the bulk finding purcbasers. At Pohangina on Tuesday was the opening sale and the inauguration of our new yards there. Settlers from all parts of the district attended. The yards were well filled with cattle and sheep ; the bidding was dull under the hammer, but fair prices ruled, which were generally accepted .afterwards, and a good clearance resulted. At Palmerston yesterday our annual sheep fair was held. Every sheep pen and many of the cattle yards were comfortably filled. In all but a few cases of well-known sheep bidding was dull, the greater portion of [ the sales made being effected privately. On these terms a very fair amount of business was transacted. At Shannon — Store ewes, 4s 3d ; 4, 6, and 8-tooth ewes, 5s Id ; store wethers, 6s to 7s. Pohangina— Store wethers, 6s 6d to 7s ; store ewes, 3s ; 2-tootbs, 5s 9d ; shorn lambs, 2s 2d to 3s. Palmerston — Shorn lambs 2s 3d to 3s, in wool 3s 6d ; others, 2s 9d ; store wethers, ss ; 2-tooth ewes, 6s to 7s 8d ; choice 2-tooth Komney ewes on account of Mr D. Rolands, 15s. 9d ; breeding ewes, good mouths, 5s to 7s 6d ; Te Matai ewes, 6s 9d ; Mr Willis' Roniney's, 8s ; cull ewes, Is 9d to 3s 2d.
