New Wesleyan Church at Rangiwahia.

The foundation stone in connection with the above Church was laid on Wednesday afternoon last in the presence of visitors from all . parts of the circnit. Regret was expressed at the unavoidable absence of Messrs Carthew, Cobbe and others of Feilding. The proceedings were opened with singing and prayer. The Minister, T. Richards, then addressed those present telling of the aggressive and conservative forces of Methodism in the Australian colonies. The church was anti-sectarian and of a Catholic spirit, it seeks the salvation of men irrespective of|class, creed, or color, ami in this great work he felt that providence was still bearing them forward to still greater enterprise. On behalf of the Wesleyan-Methodist Church of NewZealand he then declared the first block well and faithfully laid. Blocks were then laid by Messrs Guy, Millen, Clarke, Fawcett, Watson, Watt, and the Misses Clarke and Watson. Some of these gentlemen were pioneers in this part of twenty years ago. They told of the great changes wrought in these parts by the power of the gospel. They had lived to see this day and were glad. The singing of the doxology and the benediction closed an afternoon frought with graceful memories. In the evening the brethren repaired to Mrs Clarke's where a welcome tea was awaiting them. The people of Pemberton are devoutly thankful for a church in this district and stretch out their arms to welcome the ark of God's truth into their midst.
