The dead body of Mrs Evans, wife of an employee at the gasworks, was found to day at the mouth of the South Dun- din mam sewer. The woman, who was somewhat weak-minded, is supposed to have crawled into the sewer. She was missing since 29th December. Wellington, January 31. The new directorate of the Woollen Company has given notice to Woods, manager, and appointed Rauisden, son of former manager, and at present bead of the weaving department ; also adopted the suggestion in the Couinuttee's report and will appoint an expert Secretary. Christchurch, January 31 W. L. Fowler, was committed for trial to-day on a charge of stealing 20 sheep the property of John Brabazon The evidence showed that accused bad put his own brand oyer that of the prosecutor. Auckland, January 31. The German warship Buzzard came out of tbe Calliope dock this morning after redecking, overhauling, etc , She went for a cruise down the Bangitoto Channel, her engines working smoothly. The warship will not leaye Auckland till the arrival of the Flake, due February 10th, from Samoa. The body of Annie Woollams, one of those accidentally drowned at Aratapu on the 24th insfe, was recovered near the Mongonui Bluff, 30 miles from where the accident happened, Tbe New Zealand Accident Insurance Company held its annual meeting to-day. A dividend at the rate of 12£ per cent was declared. The dead body of a man named Bichard Billington has been found on the Kauroa »oad, Raglan. His horse was feeding by his side. Death was due to heart disease.
