SMALL-POX OUTBREAK. (Per Press Association.) Melbourne, January 30. Another supposed case of small-pox on board the Cloncurry lias been removed to the hospital. A new description of fraudulent sovereign, which only weighs three fourths as much as the ordinary com, has been unearthed. They are worth 15s, and it is believed that there are a number of them in circulation in Melbourne. This Day. The small pox patients from the ship Cloncurry .are progressing satisfactorily. No fresh cases have occurred. At the half-yearly meeting of tbe Broken Hill Proprietary Company tbe net profits for six months were shown |to be £'340,000. The report stated that I there -was sufficient oxidised ore to keep the plant runuing at the present rate for two years. Sydney, This Day. At a meeting of the Joint Stock Bank the Chairman stated since the reconstruction the liabilities have beeu reduced by .£2,099,000. The directors, he said, believe the amount placed aside to provide for losses on business "will be | sufficiently covered by reserve funds. The Wickbam miners have accepted the reduction offered by the Company. A united effort is to be made by the Australian Rifle Association to send an Australian team to England in 1896.
