The Roman correspondent of the Daily Chronicle says tbat Cardinal Vaughan's interview with the Pope convinced the latter that the hopes of a reunion with the Anglican Church were much exaggerated and without reasonable basis. The Pope has given up the proposed conference of Cardinals, and will not appeal to the English Church. Cardinal Vaughan told the Pope he expected an increase of converts to Catholicism from the Ritualists.
