The Colonial Bank of New Zealand.
The Civil Service Gazette, London, November 17th, says: — When the accounts and balance-sheets for the pre- ; sent year — a year rapidly drawing to a close— come to be presented, happy will be that individual, firm, or company, who, or which, will find the balance on the right side, seeing that we have been passing through a period of almost exceptionally bad times — the general depression which has so long prevailed , having, in a greater or lesser degree, affected all classes of the community. Under the adverse circumstances, which, Iherefore, have so long obtained in all branches of the finaucial world the fortieth report of the Directors to the halfyearly general meeting of the proprietors of the Colonial Bank of New Zealand, held at the Bank, Princes street, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 26th September last, cannot be considered other than satisfactory — eminently satisfactory.
