The usual monthly meeting of the above Darned Board was held yesterday in the new offices in Rangitikei street. Present — Messrs G. W. Kavenhill, (chairman), Park, Saxon, Goodbehere, Lethbridge, Taylor and Ransoine. Correspondence was received from Dr Monckton, Feilding, etating that an operation performed by him on the lips of a child named Wenhatn had resulted satisfactorily, and the child was now out of the hands of the nurse employed to look after it. He suggested that the father should be asked to contribute towards tb« expense of nursing the child. On the motion of Mr Goodbehere, and seconded by Mr Taylor, it was decided to instruct the Board's solicitor to proceed at once for the recovery of the amount due on sections 6 and 7, Hospital Reserve., Mr Goodbebere reported that he had informed the father of the child Wenh'am that he would be expected to paj the ex* penses incurred in nursing. 7 The matron's application for an increase of the salaries paid to the nurses was discussed. Mr Saxon said there were a number of applicants on the books for the position.—Mr Park was of opinion that larger salaries should be paid. — Mr Ransame thought the matter should be held over until the estimates were made. — Mr Saxon thought inexperienced nurses should be taken into the institution and taught.— The Chairman said at present two nuraes were paid £35 per year each, and two £30 each. — Mr Taylor said each nurse should be paid the same salarj as soon as she proved herself thoroughly competent. He would not object to raising the salaries of those getting £30 to £35. — It was decided to refer the question to the Executive to report at the next meeting On the motion of Mr Park, seconded by Mr Kendall, Drs Porter and Macintire were reappointsd as the medical staff with a remuneration of £100 each per annum.
