Feilding Borough Council.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Borough Council was held last evening. Present— His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. A. Sandilands), Crs. J. Gould, G. W. Fowles, A. R. Allan, T. Pt. Chamberlain, E. Goodbehere, H. Worsfold, G. H. Saywell. The minutes of the previous ordinary and special meetings were read aud confirmed. Mr J. P. Cowie, tho newly elected Councillor who was appointed to this vacancy caused by tho election of Cr. Sandilands to the Mayoral chair, made the usual declaration and took his seat at the Council table. The Mayor congratulated Cr. Cowie on his electiou to the Council. Ho was glad they had a representative from Makino and hoped that although he might represent that portion of the town he would also work for the general interests of the Borough and not any particular part. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : — From F. Flavall, Inspector of Nuisances, complaining of refuse having been placed in a hole on Hobson street instead of in the river bed.— A notice to be erected warning people from putting rubbish in the whole complained of. From Secretary Railway Department in reply to a cornmunicaiion from the Mayor re accommodation at the railway station goodshed, would receive consideration. From Colonial Secretary's dept enquiring cost of licensing elections in 1891 and 1894.— The cost was £7 8s 8d in 1891 and t2B 9s 8d in 1894, a difference of £16 Is betweeu the two year's named. Resolved, That the report of tho Finance Committee be adopted. The Mayor stated that a meeting was called to be held in the Assembly Rooms on Monday evening next, at 8 o'clock, to decide on tho day to hold the weekly half-holiday in Feilding. He thought this would be the best way to decide which would be the most convenient day. This was all the business and the Council adjourned.
