GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. ENORMOUS DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. (Per Press Association.) London, December 23. Terrific gales are beiug experienced along the coast of Great Britain, causing enormous damage to property, and many wrecks have occurred. The barque Kirkniichael, 903 tons, bound from Liverpool to Melbourno, ran on the rocks at Holyhead, and eight persons were drowned. The coasts are strewn with wrecks, and it is estimated that over 100 persons have boon drowned. The hurricano has been unequalled in severity for many years. Tho velocity of the wind was 87 miles per hour. Num- i erous factories wore unroofed and houses demolished.
