Feilding Sports Committee.

A meeting of tho above was held last evening at Mr Sherwill's office. Present - Messrs Kirton (in tho chair), Allan, Halcombe, James, Matheson, Goodbehere, Saywell, Gosling, Thomson, "NVorsfold, and Sherwili (secretary). The minutes of tho last meeting were road and confirmed. Correspondence was received from Mr Copeland, acceptiug the position of haudicapper for the forthcoming sports ; from Mr Pownall, secretary of the Waugauui Amateur Athletic Association, re placing amateur running events ou programme; and from the Wanganui Chronicl* and Kaugitikei Advocate re advertising. Tho report of the Programmo Committee was received. Considerable discussion ensued respecting several items and it was ultimately rosolved, — That tho amateur events bo struck out. That two bicycle races be inserted, to be run under tho rules of tho New ! Zealand C3 f clists' Union. That a wrestling event be added to the programme ; three styles, GraecoRoman, Catch -as-catch-cau, and Cumberland. — Mr Kirton strongly objected to wrestling events being introduced in the sports, as having a tendency to lower tue status of the meeting. Resolved, That a football kicking (drop-kick) competition bo added to the programme. Resolved, That tho programme be adopted. Mr Matheson called attention to tho dress of competitors at last meeting. - Resolved, That strict compliance with rule 25 be enforced in future. Resolved, That Messrs Goodbeherc, James, Halcombe, Worsfold, and the Secretary bo a Ground Committee. Resolved, That Mr James Scott be a member of tho Committee. Resolved, That Messrs Hartgill and Copeland be judge and handicapper respectively. Resolved, That the Secretary engago the Feilding Brass Band to play at the forthcoming sports. Rosolved, That Messrs Goodbehero, W. G. Haybittle, and the Secretary, be au auction committee. Resolved, That all privileges, except gates, be by sold by auction. Resolved, That Messrs Scott and Fowles be timekeepers. A vote of thanks to tho Chairman terminated the meeting. Tho next meeting of the Committee will be hold at Mr Sherwill's office, ou Friday, 16th inst., at b p.m.
