Apiti Sports.
The residents of Apiti are determined to keep abreast with the times. It will be seen by au advertisement in another column that on New Year's Day Athletic Sports will be held in that rising township, a most liberal programme being provided. The Apiti Meeting will be the only Athletic Meeting in the district on New Year's Day, and this should prove an additional advantage both in tho number of competitors aud iv tho attendance of tho public. Tho prizes are very haudsome aud should be the means of attracting large fields of competitors. All the events are open — bar one — and will be run under the rules of the Feildiug Athletic Club. A concert and dance will be held iv the evening. As this, the initial meeting of the Apiti Sports, has beon started under such favorable auspices, aud with the fixed intention on the part of the promoters to mako it a success, we trust they will become a permanent institution growing stronger year by year keeping pace with the progress of the important district of which Apiti is the centre. — — — —
