Fatal Accident at Pohangina.
We regret to have to record a fatal accident by which a young man named Richard Harrison waskilled at Pohangin* on Saturday last. It appears that the deceased in compam with two others waa bushfelling about 23 uihes from Ashurst when the accident occurred. Harrison bo we are informed, remained behind a tree when another tree was falling. Some of the branches of the latter struck the tree under which deceased was standing, and he received injuriei to his head Bnd ribs It took the mates of the injured man three hours to carry him to the camp and he expired shortly before they reached the tent. The deceased is understood to have had friends in a good position in England. He was mucheßteemed by his comrades who are greatly upset at his ■udden and untimely end. The remains of tne unfortunate man will be interred in the Palmerston cemetry to-morrow after noon. The Coroner, J. Linton, Esq., proceeded to Ashurst to hold the customary inquest yesterday — Standard.
