The Butter Trade.
(PEE PttKSS A.S»OCIATIONI. London, November 8. Tho leading butter firms resent the action of tho Dairymeu's Association iv Victoria. Messrs Coey and Treugrouse state that self-interest will induce the merchants to obtain the highest price for their butter, and they assert that the Victorian dairymen must be ignorant of the condition of the market, and that they apparently dp not understand the position of the salesmen. They say that prior to fixing the price, the Committee consider the weather and also the stocks of English and Foreign arrivals. They also demand the same information from the countries. They allege that the salesmen aro disposed to ignore tho action of the Dairymen's Association, and declare that owing to monetary advances it is to the former's advantage to obtain the best prices, but that unless some fived market rule is adopted prices will fall. A number of salesmen are anxious and hope to reach the Danish level which at present is 114s per cwt. ' The Copenhagen Committee has fixed tho price of butter at 130s per cwt. The rise has entirely stopped the Danish trade hero. The local committee has adopted the new system of quotation, and takes the choicest varieties as the standard. Owing to the advance of the Danish article, the' London ' committee has raised the price for the choicest colonial to 110s per cwt, and tine quality from 06s to 100 a,
