The Stock Market.

♦ Mr Charles Carr reports on recent sales as follows :— I held stock sales at my Feilding and Birmingham sale yards on Tuesday the 6th, and Saturday the 10th instants respectfully. At Birmingham a fair number of cattlo and sheep came forward, but bidding was very slack, buyers being very cautious, evidently anticipating lower prices. However, I succeeded in quitting all the stock entered excepting one pen of shorn hoggets at reduced prices. I had to postpone the Feilding sale until Saturday omp,g to the public holiday falling on my usual day. A lpt of stock advertised did not coino forward. Thp bidding at this sale was also slack, but I quitted mo^ of the stock at considerably lower prices than have been ruling. I quote : Birmingham — Cattle : y£ to U-year bullocks, £8 10s to £4 ss ; yearlings to 18-months do, fc2 7s 6d to £2 10s ; 8-yr heifers in calf, A3 7s sd. Sheep : Woolly hoggets, 5s Od to 0s 3d ; wethers, forward in wool, 12s 8d ; cull owes, with lambs, 7s. Fcildiug— Cattlo : yearlings, 32s 6d to 355 ; wcanprs, 20s to ssß ; fat cows, £-i 18s 6d to £5 10s ; dairy cows, .£5 tQ £5 10s. Sheep : Forward dry ewes, 5s 6d ; forward wethers, 7s lOd.

Messrs Monteifch and Q'Moara report on their sales for the past fortnight as follows : Danevirke — Cattle : Forward store cows, £3 18s 6d ; 2-year heifers, £3 10s ; yearlings to 18 months mixed, 455 ; good weaners 85s. Sheep— Hoggets, 0s ; do inferior, 6s ; aged ewes with lambs, 7s Od. Palmerstou North — Cattle : 2-year to 2J-year steors, £1 5s to JG4 10s ; 2.J-year to 3-year steers, .£3 7s 6d ; yearlings, £2 4s. Shegp— Aged ewes with lambs, 7s Bd. At Wopdyilje w^ had a full entry of cattle and a" goocl attendance of buyers, and prices ruled about equal to recent sales. Cattle— Dairy cows, j-8 ; springing beifei's, £j 10s to £5 ; 3-ypar steers, £-k 17s ; yearlings to 18 ruonth do, 46s tQ 525 ; weaners to yearlings do, 88s.

Messrs Tennant and Simpson report : - We held our monthly stock sale at Marton on Thursday Bth instant. Cows in milk sold from j?4 10s to .£6 109. Sheep— Ewes with 25 per cent of latnbs 8s ; shorn f&t owes, §s I*4 ; hoggets, in the wool, from s_s' Od to 'Os Od*. ' Shorn hoggets, 5s Oil. Pigs, SveiVuerb; Bs r . Wo Hold a line of fat bullocks during the mppth at £7 2s 6d.
