Manawatu County Council.

Wkdnesday, 10th October. Present — All the members but J. G. Wilson, who is in Wellington attending to his Parliamentary duties. The correspondence was received and dealt with in the following resolutions : — Proposed by Cr Robinson, seconded by Cr Hammond, That the bridges of Main Drain road be put in order for wheel traffic to Oroua Bridge, and that the overseer call on Mr McMillan with regard to a portion of the Taikorea road, and make fit for wheel traffic— Carried. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Strang, That Mr Clarke be informed that the Campbell Riding, being very low in funds, is not in a position to do the work complained of by him at present, but it will receive attention as soon as the riding is in funds. Carried. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Hammond, That Mr Briscoe be informed the metalling of Kopene road would entail a cost of from ±500 to .£6OO, which is quite beyond the present income of the riding concerned, but that the overseer will be instructed to put a man on to fill up the ruts and make it passable for traffic. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, That H. Pickering be allowed to remove his slaughterhouse to section 149 in the plan of the Sandon township. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Strang, seconded by Cr Ransom, That the chairman and Cr Hammond sign and seal the application plan with the New Zealand railways re lease or Carnarvon siding for five years, from Ist inst. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Masters, seconded by Cr Robinson, That tenders be called for forming Phillips street in Sandon, tenders to be in by next meeting, the same to be charged to Sandon Riding Special Loan.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Strang, seconded by Cr Ransom, That the tenders of J. Whittington for Nos. 1 and 2 contracts, Campbelltown Riding; that of Gregg and Guild, for No. 3 contract, Moutoa ; and that of Dudson Bros., No. 4, Moutoa, be accepted.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Masters, seconded by Cr Strang, That tenders be called for trimming and metalling 150 chains on Wilson's-Mt. Lee's line, the same to be charged to loan account ; tenders to be in by next meeting. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, That tenders be invited for metalling the unmetalled portion of Campion's line, tenders to be in by noon of next meeting of this Council.-Carried. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Strang, that Mr Cox be appointed valuer for the Manawatu County (subject to a satisfactory arrangement being come to between Mr Cox and the chairman) at a remuneration of .£6O, the valuation to be for three years.— Carried.
