This Day, 8 a.m. On clause 3 Mr McNab moved an amendment to provide that in oase the sale of liquor was prohibited by a national option poll the permission otherwise allowed to perfumers and chemists to use alcohol should cease. The discussion went on all night, numerous motions to report progress and to leave the chair being lost by substantial majorities, and it was not until 7.530 a.m. that the amendment went to a division and was carried by 20 to 18. Mr G. J. Smith moved to strike ont sub-section 80 of clause 8 in order that sellers of wine and cider from New Zealand grown fruit in two gallon Suautities might not be excepted from le local option poll. This gave riso to considerable debate. At eight o'clock it was propose! to adjourn for breakfast, but a big chorus of " Noes " refused permission. Mr It. Mackenzie then moved to report progress, saying the temperance parky intended to go on all day. Mr R. McKen/.ie continued his remarks and was repeatedly warned by the chairman for his continual repetitions. The chairman again ordered him to discontinue his remarks. Mr Seddon said ho would not like such a motion now, he would tell Mr McKenzie he would not be permitted long to play with the House, Mr Buchanan moved the Chairman loave the chair which, after a long discussion, was negatived at 9 a.m. by 28 to 19. The House rose at 10.45 until 7 30 p. in on Monday.
