HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

The House met at 5.30. The Speaker said he considered the amendment made by the Legislative Council in clause A ot the Consols Bill, reducing the term of repayment from 40 years to 20 years was an infringement of the privileges of the House. On the motion of Mr Ward it was decided to disagree with the amendment made by the Council in this clause. He said a Governor's message would be brought down later on reducing the amount under the Bill to half a million. The Native Land Court Bill was in committee until the dinner adjourn* mont, In committee on the Native Land Court Bill, clause 135, giving the Government a preemptive right over native lands was retained by 84 to 19, the re maining clauses passing without material amendment. The Licensing Bill was committed at 1.20 a.m , and a motion to report progress was lost bj 29 to 26.
