Pollard's Liliputian Opera Company.

In bringing such a large organisation as this to Feilding, Mr Pollard desires the thanks of the play -going portion of our community for his energy in undertaking such an enterprise. We trust to see a liouse crowded to the doors, as an encouragement to first-class companies. In selecting " The Gondoliers " for this town, Ml* Polland showed good judgment, as we have heard so much of it during the last few years, and as several of the numbers are familiar to us, it is just the opera to suit the public taste. The critics of the old and new worlds have been unanimous in their verdicts regarding this work that it is undoubtedly the best thing that Gilbert and Sullivan have done. The plot deals with the changing of babies, and the marrying of a prince for political purposes when yet a child, and is of that quaint mixture of impossibilities for which Gilbert is famed. The music is of a very catchy nature, the ballad " Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes " being a musical gem, while such numbers as " The Cachuca," " When a Merry Maiden Marries," and the far-famed gavotte are brimful of melody. The comic element is well represented by the impecunious "Duke of Plaza Toro" and " The Inquisitor." The whole forms a most delightful evening's amusement, both eyes and ears being pleased.
