Fire at the Detective Office.

(m VBBSS ASSOCIATION). Wfllinqton, Sept 24 A fire broke out shortly before ten o'clock in the detective's office in the Central Police Station, Lauibton Quay, apparently originating in the waste paper basket under one of the tables, and was extinguished by the police officials with their own plant. The damage was not very great, but it is | feared papers of value may have been burnt in the drawers of one of the tables destroyed.
