In another column Mr E. Goodbehere returns thanks to those electors who voted for him at yesterday's Borough election. The Commissions further state that until both lines are under one ownership it is unlikely that a quicker service can be arranged throughout. A petition bas been presented to the House from representatives of tho Canterbury Frozen Meat and Dairy Produce Export Company, the Christchurch Meat Company, the Shaw, Savill, aud Albion Company, aud the New Zealand Shipping Company. The petitioners allege that in comparison with other produce the rates charged for the carriage of frozen meat are unduly high, and the Railway Comruistdonerw have declined to considor any reduction. They therefore pray tho Houae to grant them relief.

Mr A. R. Allan thanks the burgesses for electing him as a member of the Borough Council yesterday. The Harmonic Society held a good practice last evening, about fifty members being present. The Committee of the Feilding Jockey Club met at the Manchester Hotel last evening, and transacted business in connection with tbe forthcoming Spring Meeting. It was decided to call for tenders for ploughing and keeping the training track in order. Also, to purchase a roller at once. Tbe concert and dance to be given in the Pohaugina township this evening should be a most enjoyable affair, and the attendance promises to be very large. A capital programme will be submitted, including vocal and instrumental items by some of Birmingham's favourite entertainers. The probabilities of a creamery in connection with the Cheltenham factory being started in Feilding are very doubtful, as the efforts of the gentlemen appointed to canvass for shares met with little or no success. There was no difficulty in securing the required quantity of cows, but few of those canvassed would take up shares.
