The War Between Japan and China.
(Per Press Association. Shanghai, Sept. 6. Owing to the report that two spies were beheaded 700 Japanese have fled from Shanghai. The Emperor of China has contributed £1,000,000 from his private purse towards the war. According to the Chinese reports, during the recent fighting on the Corean border the Chinese lured the Japanese on to a terranean mine, which killed 500 if their number when it exploded. Heavy rains are impediug operations in Corea. Many skirniishes have taken place at Chungwa. The Coreaus captured 30 Japanese scouts aud handed them over to tho Chinese. The Japanese threaten thafc unless the arsenal is closed they will withdraw the promise not fco attack Shanghai. September 7. Japan has occupied an island of great strategic value close to Port Arthur Reports from ,/okohaiua states the Japan? ese aro making preparation for an attack ou Pi-kiu. __^__^^__
