Refusal of Extension of Licenses

(Per Press Association.) Wanoanui, September 7. At the quarterly meeting of the Licensing Committee to-day applications were made from thirteen hotelkeepers for extension of licenses to 11 o'clock. The applications were dealt with as a whole, and after hearing evidence in support of them the committee refused the extension, agreeing to the former grant of an extra quarter of an hour. The committee intend to ask the House to pass a short Bill validating their action, as they consider the extension they have granted, though necessary for the convenience of travellers hy late trains, is sufficient.
