COLLEGE TOURNAMENT.
1 Wellington, August 29. The College football tournament began to-day on the Petone ground, when Wellington and Wanganui College teams met, and the former won by 30 points to 11. The match was a most interesting one, and some very brilliant form was displayed by the boys. The feature of the game was the splendid passing of the Wellington backs, especially McAra, McKonzie, Tripe and Payton. Wei lington's score was made up as follows :— McKenzie and Gray two I tries each, McAra and Tripe one each. Two of the above were converted by Tripe and McKenzie respectively, and McKenzie potted two goals. For the losers Cooper scored two tries, and Hewitt one, one being converted by Marshall. Wellington College meets Christ's College, of Christchurch, on Saturday, and on Monday the latter plays Wanganui.
