NORTH ISLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, August 29. The football match, North Island v. New South Wales, was played to-day at Potter's Paddock. There were 8000 people present. Mr J. Arneil was referee, and Messrs Sefton and McKenzie line umpires. A. Bayly captained the North Island team, and Surman the New South Wales team. Tbe game resulted: — North Island, 15 ; New Wales, 3, Tries were obtained for the North Island by Bayly (2) and Eoberts. Murphy kicked two goals from penalty kicks, one being from 10yds past the mid-field. For New South Wales, Lane from a scrum Ecored. The game throughout was a rough i one, Roberts (Wellington), had his 1 collar bone broken, and Dibbs (New South Wales), retired badly shaken, while several others were slightly injured.
