Football News.
Referring to the North Island team, the Wellington Post says :— The fact that lnen like Sanson and Smith, of Manawatu, Cochrane, Wairarapa; and Watsoa and McMillan, of Taranaki, had to be left out is sufficient evidence of the strength of. the team. Neither Jervis, the Auckland crack threequarter, nor Hiroa, the clever Hawkes Bay forward, who had such a good record with the New Zealand team in Australia, were available for selection. Wanganui, Bush Districts, and Horowhenua, sent no recommendations. There is every prospect of good weather for the football match, New South Wales v, Auckland, played.at Auckland to-day. There is great interest being taken in the match, the visitors being the favorites. -' . ; The result of the match, Manawatu v. Wanganui, which takeßt place in Wanganui this afternoon will' be posted outside the office shortly after the match is finished. | Per Press Assodation.j '- . Wellington, August 24. Hughes, of Taranaki, is unable to get away, and Pringle, of Wellington, takes his place in the North Island team against New South Wales. .:
