Social at Birmingham.
[FROM ODB OWN CORBK3PONDKNT.'? A social in connection with the Birmingham Menticulturn? Society was held in the Town Hall last even ing. Owing to the inclemency of the weather the attendance was not what it might have boon. The President, Mr Hugh Mclntyre, occupied the chair, and in his address gave a resume of the work of the Association during the past quarter, which proved to be in a flourishing position financially and otherwise, a fter refreshments bad been handed round by the ladies Mrs Kitchen, the Misses h'ichardson, Lowes, nnd Hicks, and Messrt Stevens, and W. Barlow favoured the audience with songs, while Mr Frauk Barlow's flute solos were greatly appreciated. The soloists were accompanied by Messrs Bain eg and >andeman, while the dancing of the sword dance and Highland fling by Mr Donald Eoss fairly brought down the houso. Recitations were givin by Miss Birch and Miss Moffatt. A voto of thanks to the ladies, proposed by Mr Sandoman, and seconded by Mr Ales. Forgusson, brought a pleasant evening to a close, (The above report reached us too late for yesterday's issue.)
