A. G. Tame and Co. report on tho markets for the week ending August 2nd. Fat sheep — Keen unsatisfied demand and increasing, all coming forward eagerly snapped npj; butchers short of supplies. Prime wethers, heavy., weights, have sold up to 16s ; medium, 13s 6d to 14s 6d; Hght, 11s to 12s ; fat ewes, lls 6d to 12s 6a, for good weights; store wethers, selling freely, Us 6d to 12s 6d for very fresh; ordinary stores, 9s 6d to 10s 6d ; hoggets, have placed all offering, and demand for more at up to 8s 6d for good lots, 6s to 7s for medium; even culls are selling now. Fat castle— We can place ail offering at market values, up to 19s. per 100 lbs; store cattle, good demand, have sold everything; weaners, 26s* 6d;' yearlings, 40s; 2-year-old steers, £8; 3-year-old steers, £4 to £4 10s; dairy cows, big demand, cannot supply half of it. Horses— We held bur weekly horse sale on Saturday. There was again a small entry. A fair demand exists for good young express and light harness horses, but not for high priced draughts. We sold useful aged draughts at £13 to £14 ; 3-year-old colt, half draught, Ml 10s; hacks, £6 15s and £5; good tight harness horses, £12 10s £14. We have received advice from an Ashburton client that we may expect him up shortly with some good sorts. Sheepskins— Plenty offering, but buyers are shy and have to be coaxed to give anything like value ; pices remain firm. Talloy, 18s *io 20s for best; medium, 15s to 16s. Grain— » MiUing wheat, no business ; fowl wheat, 2s 6d to 2s 8d ; oats, quiet, Is 4d to Is 10$ d for best. Potatoes; plentiful Bupply; table, 60s; seed, dES 10s io £5, according to kind. Chaff, plenty offer* ing, 65s to 70s. '
