More Fighting at Samoa.
— __ — ♦ The war still goes on in a desultory and intermittent manner. On the 28th of June one of the rebels of Atua was observed up a cocoanot tree sear Luatuanuu, and was brought down by a well directed bullet. He was shot dead, and was about to be decapitated when a discussion took place about the ordinance forbidding the practioe, and the upshot was that the dead man's ears were taken instead and brought to Apia. The following day a skirmish took place, the brush resulting in favour of the Government. The rebels lost two killed* and then retrenched. The Government had two men wounded. In this case the de capitation ordinance was disregarded. The heads of the two rebels were cut off and brought cowards Apia as far as Afega. Then the ears were removed, stuck on knives, and, it is said brought to Mulinuu. A few days later one of the Government soldiers wandering in the bush near Mulyanua was met by three rebels, who shot and beheaded him. It is said that he was - reallj deserting to the rebel camp, and was killed before he had time to ex. plain.
