At a meeting of about thirty tractionengine owners this morning, it was decided to petition Parliament to repeal the clause of the Police Offences Act relating to traction-engines. A Tractionengine Owners' Association was formed to protect the interests of owners generally. Oreymouth, July 20. The coal export for the wsek was 2908 tons. The Reofton gold returns for the week were : Alpine, HOoz amalgam from 145 tons dean up ; Progress, 4410z amalgam from 185 tons clean up ; Drake, 82oz amalgam from 110 tons clean up. Westpobt, July 28. The coal export for the week ending today was 4764 tons. Westport Goal Company, 112 tons. Chbistchurch, July 29. The Championship Golf meeting continued at Hagley Park on Friday in lovely weather. The annnal match between Otago and Christchurch clnbs was decided, Otago winning both the single and fours, the former by 31 to 21 and the latter by 17 to 7. Auckland. July 29 At a conference on temperance matters, at which the Rev Mr Isitt was present, it was decided to form in Auckland a Prohibition and Temperance League, to incorporate the present Prohibition League.
