CPES PBEM ASSOCIATION ) Sydhky, July 29 The Acacia, bound from the Thames to Melbourne, put in here to renew supplies and repair the damage sustained iv a hurricane while on the voyage. The water-tank was destroyed, and the crew had to be put on short allowance. What water they had was muddy. It is reported to-night that the Dibbs Government has resigned. Melbourne, This Day. Mr Reid denies that he informed the Hawaiian Government of the intention of the English Government to seize Necker Island. The Trades Council has decided not to support any candidate for municipal honours who does not favour a clause being inserted in municipal contracts fixing the minimum wages to be paid by a contractor as follows :— Unskilled labour, 6d to 8d per hour ; skilled labour at Union rates.
