Mysterious Disappearance of a Bank Manager.

(PER PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, July 20. A case of singular disappearance was reported to-day on the arrival of the steamer Rotomahana from Lyttelton. Mr MacKilligan, manager of the Lyttelton branch of the Bank of New Zealand, joined the steamer at Lyttelton, being en route for Auckland. About 2.80 a fellow passenger observed Mr MacKilligan leaving his cabin, apparently dressed, and, later on, finding no traca of him, reported the circumstance to tho ship's officers. Active search was made, but without any satisfactory result, and the rnsssing man is still unaccounted for. Those on board are positive that he could not have walked ashore on the vessel's arrival without being seen. Mr MacKilligan had been in the service of the Bank for nearly sixteen years. For some time past he had not been in good heath.
