Suitable Freezing Sheep.

(Per Press Association.) N api eh, July 18. At the hist Agricultural and Pastoral Show Nelson Bros, offered a special prize for the best pen of sheep suitable for freezing. The pens were Border Leicesters, Lincoln, cross Lincolns, Shropshire, Lincoln-Merino (first cross), and £ome heavy Merinos. The judges at the show awarded the prize to the Shropshire Down cross, though Nelson considered the Leicester-Lin-coln cross pen the best. On arrival in London these sheep were submitted to several expert butchers for their opinion. The result is now to hand. The butchers were unanimous in confirming Nelson's opinion, putting the Down cross next to the LincolnMerino as second quality and the Merinos as quite unsuitable to the English market.
