Mr Pirani gave notice of the intro duction of the Fire Brigades Bill, which has been prepared by the United Fire Brigades' Association. Mr Stewart moved the second read ing of the Shearers' Accommodation Bill to provide for proper accommodation of shearers. He said he did not mean to impEy that all owners of shearing sheds treated their men badly but there were exceptions where runholders did not treat their shearers pro perly. Mr Reeven on behalf of the Govern ment, asked the House to pass the second reading of the Bill. Ihe motion was agree to on the voices. The Threshing Machine Alien Bill (Steward) to make provision for securing to threshing- machine owners a preference claim for the cost of thresh ing grain or seed was read a second time. Mr Millar moved the second reading of the Employers' Private Benefit Society Bill to provide that member, ship of theso societies shall be partly voluntary and that both! parties shall contribute to the funds wae read a second time and referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The House rose at 1.15 a.m.
