Birmingham Road.
._. . . o DEPUTATION TO THE MINISTER FOR LABOUR. [from our own correspondent.] As all vehicular traffic on the Kimbolton road is practically stopped, and those who must travel on this road do so at great risk to their lives and property, it has become patent that something of a decisive character must be effected. A deputation consisting of Messis Homer, Lowes, and Fergusson purpose travelling to Wellington next week to wait upon the Hou. W. P. Reeves (Minister for Labour), and Messrs Stevens and Pirani, the mem bere for Rangitikei and Palmerston, and lay before them the absolute ne cessity of Government doing something to keep this road permanently open for traffic. Unless this is done, for fully six months out of the year the immense district above Birmingham will be to all intents and purposes shut off from all communication, and further settlement will perforce come to a standstill.
