The Labor Riots in the States.
A DASTARDLY ACT. (FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION ) New York, July 16. Four million dollars' worth of railway property bas been destroyed by strikers in Chicago. Thousands of men who went out on strike are deserting their Unions and returning to work. Dibs, the Leader of the Railway Union, is endeavoring to arrange a renewal of the strike. Washington, July 14. Working men have appealed to the President to visit Chicago personally and redress their grievances. Debs, the leader of the men, has announced that the strike is at an end. It is estimated that the cost to the Government of stopping the strike has been je*2oo,ooo. The President intends to appoint a Commission to enquire into the causes of the recent movement. The employees of the Pullman Company decline to yield. Strikers threw a mail train in Indiana off the rails. Two persons were killed outright and many fatally injured.
