DESPERATE CONDITION OF AFFAIRS. THE STRIKERS AIM at UNIVERSAL STOPPAGE OF TRAFFIC. LYNCH LAW ENFORCED. (.PEE FBBS3 ASSOCIATION.] New York, Jnly 3. The strike is acute' in the Western States, and, despite the active efforts of the troops to raise a blockade, the railway strikers occupy the strategical points of the railway system in Pittaburg and Western Pacific, and forbid the moving of trains. The strikers have wrecked many cars, and have destroyed a considerable length of the permanent way. A meat famine is imminent in towns on the Atlantic seaboard, as grain and cattle trades are at a standstill. Many factories are closing for the want of coal. The strikers are endeavouring to involve the Eastern States in the present dispute so as to secure the universal stoppage of traffic. The whole of the Federal army has been placed at the disposal of the judges in order to enable them to entorce order?. Washington, July 4. The |mob at Pueblo hanged an engineer and fireman whom they regarded as blacklegs.
