Football News.

A match was played on the Oral yesterday afternoon, . between the Red Stars (Feilding) and Kaiwhakas (Marton), and resulted in a win for the local team by eight points to nil. At the commencement of the game the visitors forced the play and had a slight advantage for a few minutes until the home team made the game loose. The teams were evenly matched, the visitors having the advantage in the scrums, but the Bed Stars were too quick in following up and good at collaring for them. Foster (2), Farkes, and Macfarlane, made some good rum for the winners, and Way and Nicholson for the losers, in the first s^ell Hurdle scored a try near the coiner flag, no goal resulting, and in the second spell Macfarlane took a pass from F. Foster, and, after making a good run, succeeded in getting behind the posts. F. Foster was entrusted with the kick and placed a goal. W. Smith obtained a mark in Marton's twenty-five in the first spell, and F. Foster made a good, though unsuccessful, kick at goal; Foster also tried to drop kick the ball over and' went near scoring. Mr A. Parr acted as referee, and Messrs Harris and Bichardson as touch-line umpires. The visiting team were entertained at dinner at Hastie's hotel in the evening by the Bed Stars. A meeting of those interested in the formation of an Association Football Club in this district was held at the Feilding Hotel last evening, the attendance being fair. Mr J. p. Hare was voted to the chair. It was decided to call this Club the Oroua County Association Football Club, and Mr J. C. Hare was appointed Secretary and Treasurer and also captain. The following were elected a committee, viz : Messrs F. Myers, C. L. Daniel Is, C. Halcombe, A. Gray and the Secretary. The subscription was fixed at 5s for members and; 2s 6d for honorary members. Tho captain is endeavoring to meet the Wanganui players on Saturday week, and if a match can be arranged a team will be picked by the committee on Saturday night. The local players also intend to communicate with Wellington Clubs with a view to arranging matches. Yesterday afternoon several Association players rolled up to the practice, some of the members showing good form.
