Creamery for Sandon.
A large meeting of farmers was held in the Sanson Town Hall, on Tuesday afternoon, at the conclusion of Messrs Gorton and Son's stock sale, to further consider the question of erecting a creamery there. Mr Roberts, the Secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union, was present and supplied some important information with regard to the working of creameries. He stated that the Directors were very favorably disposed towards the erection of a creamery at Sandon. The conditions on which they would erdct creameries were that 200 shares at £12 10s each should be taken np in the district, and the milk of 250 cows guaranteed. Mr Penny, having made a canvas' of the district to ascertain what support was likely to be obtained, -handed in a list showing those who had promised cows, to the number of 278, and the shares promised to be taken up amounted to 97. This number was increased to 195 on a canvas being made in the Hall, being only five short of the required number. Discussion took place ove? a suitable site, and it was ultimately re.-, solved to erect the creamery on the old mill site in the Sandon township, that being the most central to the greatest number of suppliers.
