The Recent Gold Discovery.
A GEOLOGIST TO BE SENT TO THE FIELD. [Per Press Association.] Hobart, This Day. A Government geologist has been despatched to the scene of the new gold discovery near Mount Lyell. Practical prospectors state that the existence of a large deposit of gold-bearing reefs in that locality has been known for some time. The prospects give about three dwts. to the ton, and they think the field might be payable if worked on a very large scale.
